Race Car on Flickr.
After I did my Sailor Venus the other day using Brushes, a 5-year-old I know on Twitter said I should do a race car next. Sounded like a good challenge, as I’ve been doing nothing but people and small animals for a while, so I gave it a shot.

I’m still working on my fair entry, but I was getting kind of uptight about it so I stopped to draw a cartoon quail. I have quails in my neighborhood! I didn’t know that until about a week ago when two of them jumped out in front of my car (don’t worry, they made it!).

The Humboldt County Fair is coming up and I’m kinda still working on my entry, even though it’s a whole weekend past the original submission deadline. Yeah. Well, whatever, I’m doing it and that’s all that matters. I’m doing a watercolor of a marbled murrelet in its breeding feathers. This is what they look like in their seafaring feathers, all black and white like an orca. I will post a pic of the painting (and some progress shots) after the fair is over.
