D'aww, I have to admit I hadn't realized that the twist is always counterclockwise...is that just in the northern hemisphere? I'm doing local birds, so for the purposes of these drawings it doesn't matter, but I'm curious!

I'm watching a lot of birds through binocs to observe their behavior, and looking at a lot of photos for specific details- I'm trying to avoid drawing idle birds staring into space. My goal is to capture a little of their inner life in these still drawings, but it's difficult because birds are very subtle animals.

Hi Hon,
I haven't said anything about the drawing because every time I write to you it never gets there. Anyway I'll try again; The bird is fantastic all the details are perfect. You must be spending a lot of time studying the bird and the rode bush branch it's sitting on. The thorns are perfect and the rotate around the branch counterclockwise as you already have noticed. The extra turn-in that the bobs do is to grab you coming and going to protect the flower. I know the study it takes to do it right. Keep drawing and you'll get better than you know.

As a matter of fact, I do! I'm sort of keeping the larger ones off the blog because I'm trying to put a show together with them.
