Webcams are Dumb
The irony of the whole thing is that I produce video for broadcast all day long in my dayjob, but I have always, always had problems with stupid things like programming a VCR, and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to use Windows Movie Maker (What do you mean, you can’t add tracks!?)
I have an old student copy of premiere, but you can’t really capture from a webcam (which, apparently drops frames as a matter of course, and Premiere doesn’t like that). I got the the point where I started digging around in Brad’s old video stuff, and he has this funny little Hi-8 with Svideo, only my Svideo jack is output only! Argh!
…And that’s why there was no comic yesterday!

This is my sketchblog, which is for doodles, comics, essays, and other stuff that an illustrator and comicker might blog about. I'm Veronica, and I run this joint. could you film on a regular camera and transfer it to digital? I forget the name of the program Dad’s got but I know it can do that, it’s the one we used to transfer the VHS to DVD…I used it to make the “I saw ET” clip…
That’s essentially what I was aiming to do with the hi8- either by taping and then capturing on playback, or just hooking it up and capturing directly to the computer. I wanted to use the svideo connection, but my jack is out-only. The camera actually has DV out on it as well as svideo and rca, and while I believe there is such a thing as a DV>USB2 cable (which is apparently what I’m going to need to use get it on my computer), I don’t have one at home.
None of this directly solves the syncing problem anyway, because it’s still a matter of making sure the project file and the capture settings jibe.
