Plunka-plunka-plunk, a-Doodling on my Ukulele
There is a new music shop in Eureka that happens to be right next door to a business we were shooting a commercial for the other day. They sell these funny little ukuleles in weird colors for dirt cheap. We were waiting on a person to show up to the shoot and I ducked out to grab one.
I am getting intimidated by the guitar in the same way I’m letting blank pages of nice paper intimidate me. Not so much with the uke- it’s partially the volume, partially the silliness of this cheap-o purple instrument, and I’m sure the size doesn’t hurt either. It’s easier to mess around with without feeling self-conscious.
It’s doing the same thing for my playing that doodling on copy paper does for my drawing- it’s keeping my fingers limber and keeping the art in my life.

This is my sketchblog, which is for doodles, comics, essays, and other stuff that an illustrator and comicker might blog about. I'm Veronica, and I run this joint. All the artwork is copyright Veronica C Guzzardi. Please don't use it without permission from me. Please contact me if you want to pay me to draw for you; that's my favorite.
I didn’t know there was a new music store in eureka. What is it called?
Fortuna Music Mart. It’s an expansion of Fortuna Music Mart in, you know, Fortuna, and in spite of the fact that their new store is in Eureka, they kept the name the same.
I didn’t really know where else to throw this sooo… if i wanted to buy a t-shirt directly from you is that possible? and also is the poker one the only one that is specifically for men?
I don’t have any stock myself, so you pretty much have to go through Zazzle. The poker shirt is the only one I think men would even be interested in wearing, but all the designs can be put on men’s shirts.
Sorry it took me a minute to reply to this- I didn’t see it until just now!
