A Few of My Favorite Things
In the name of appreciating the little things, and also because I didn’t do a “stuff I’m grateful for” list on Thanksgiving, I give you a somewhat-illustrated list of things I dig:
When the new quarters come out. Finding something in my house I forgot about. After-shower-towel-clad email checking (fig 1). Starting a new knitting project. Stuffed animals. Getting compliments on things I made, before people know I made them. Unboxing new electronics (there is nothing in the world like that smell!). Getting comments (hint, hint). Stickers. Opening doors for people. New socks. Just about anything made of fleece. Brad’s dogs (fig 2).
Bee House ceramics. Getting organized and saying “this time I’m really going to stick to it!” and meaning it. Webcomics. Hats with animal ears. Clean sheets. Finding somebody in wifi range on my DS. Cover songs. Threadless. Million-dollar ideas. Long meandering conversations at 2:00 in the morning. That moment when someone-you-know suddenly turns into a friend. Ganging up on my boss with my coworkers, but playfully. Feeling needed. Breakfast.
5-cent cookie Tuesday at Vellutini (fig 3). Hello Kitty. New internet gadgets. Email from my grandpa (I’d enjoy email from my grandma too except that she doesn’t use it). Sleeping late on Saturdays. Hot tubbing. Going to work and getting that “I can’t believe they pay me for this” feeling. New pens. Changing the calendar page. Making lists :).
